One out of three ain’t bad.

Rachel is one of three sisters. I have photograph two of the set, so far.  This is Rachel at her most dour and least amused.  A rare glimpse of her face sans a ‘cheshire cat’ sized grin.

Bridge over the river Thames

This is from a series of shots I made covering some London lankmarks.  This was back in December 2008 on a cool, but beautiful evening.  The long exposure reduces images of people on the bridge to mere ghosts and smooths the river.

Nice landscape

October 14, 2009

I took this one while hiking in the mountains just outside of Nice, France. Landscapes really aren’t my thing, but at least they don’t make silly faces or run for cover ;) what technical info would you like? It’s a mountain, somewhere about 2300m altitude, and along the GR-52 hiking trail. I am thinking a print would look good in my living room.

Not quite that fancy cemetary in Paris…

September 29, 2009

Having visited the extravagant cemetary in Paris, but not had a super attractive male model with me at the time, I saved it up for the local graves.  I think we had all of 15 minutes to walk up there from my place and get a set of location shots for the man’s portfolio.  I love shooting into the sun :)   And yes, it’s always this bright and warm in London.

So I get a text from a friend asking if I will take photos of a friend-of-a-friend that needed some headshots.  Always the nice guy I agreed, and of course plotted some win for myself in the form of referral business from my very well placed ‘friend-of-a-friend’.  Here’s one of the photos from a very quick and dirty shoot in my living room.

Not being much of a photoshop manipulation expert it’s quite fun to splash around from time to time.  This creation is from a series of photos I took at a graduate fashion show recently.  The colours were so vivid in many of the outfits that I felt inspired towards colourful creation.  There didn’t seem to be a really compelling way to present all these outfits together.  A gallery can be tedious to click though after all, and what else can one do?  I began copying and pasting into a single image and an hour later ended up with this…

Opa and the 60th wedding anniversary suit.

Last weekend was lovely.  I spent every day from Friday through Monday afternoon with the Dutch faction of my family.  There were so many camera’s around I didn’t feel the need to go overboard with mine, but I did get a few choice images of Oma and Opa while they were preparing.  Here he is all dressed up in a new suit.  I think he wanted to wear a light grey one… but acquiescing to current fashion he settled on something dark.

Now we get to the part where the truly personal work starts to emerge.  This is another of my favourite photos, taken a few years back.  This image came out exactly as I imagined it would… that was a rare thing for me at the time!

Almost silhouette.
